Financial Impact of Trust and Institutional Quality around the World
Kapounek, S. ; Kočenda, Evžen ; Kouba, L.
We investigate the financial impact of social trust, institutional quality, and regulations. As a testing ground we employ a unique, large, and hand-crafted dataset of more than 850 000 lending-based crowdfunding projects from 155 platforms across 55 countries during 2005–2018. We show that the impact of social trust is positive but economically less pronounced than that of institutional trust proxied by legal and property rights protection and regulation. Moreover, the financial impact of social trust is greater at the national level, while impact of institutional quality dominates at the international level. Nevertheless, the financial impact of trust and institutional quality around the world is positive, which is an encouraging implication under increasing anonymity and internationalization of financial environment.

Jiří Remr, Ph.D., MBA Abstract This thesis extends the developing research on the sources of generalized trust by analyzing how the character of the parent-child relationship influences its formation and transfer - an aspect of trust genesis not previously addressed in the Czech context. Using data from a unique survey Distinctions and Values 2008, we explore the heterogeneity in the parental influence on trust on the case of Czech 30- year-olds and their parents. We first delimit the concept of generalized trust, presenting its most relevant current conceptualizations as well as a review of the current state of knowledge on its origins and transmission. Using Bengston's model of intergenerational transmission of values as our framework, we then in the second part of the paper look into the degree of similarity between parents and their offspring in terms of their willingness to trust others, and use logistic ordinal regression to examine how it is influenced by a...

Determinants of Social Trust and Cohesion
Sedláčková, Markéta ; Šafr, Jiří
The authors first discuss two basic dimensions of social cohesion (inequality and social capital) and their indicators. They also present the concept of social cohesion as a “good society”, with an emphasis on civic integration, mutual intergroup tolerance, trust and respect for differences. The second empirical part looks at the state of selected components of social cohesion in Czech society. In addition to focusing on the way the concept of “social cohesion” is perceived by Czech public opinion, an international comparison of the level of civic trust among people is presented. Finally the paper discusses relationship between indicators of social cohesion such as generalized social trust, trust in institutions, civic engagement, and the legitimacy of the democratic system.
Determinants of social trust in Czech society
Sedláčková, Markéta
The artical studies social trust with special focus on its determinants. Using survey data from „Our society 2005“ we verify validity of teories of social trust (according to conceptualization of Delheye and Newton 2003) for Czech society. The final regression model confirms validity of so called „social theory“ for Czech society, it means the connection of social trust to evaluation of relationships in society, trust in institutions and evaluation of ecomic situation in society.
